About us
Natasha here the woman behind Wild West Pilates. If you told me two years ago I'd ditch my corporate job to open a Pilates studio, I would've choked on my coffee. But here we are.
I was living in Toronto and they had just opened that Soul Cycle on King St. Being a spin enthusiast, I was like "let's do this!" But on my third class? Complete disaster. Full-blown panic attack. Had to awkwardly leave mid-class with everyone watching. Yeah... that was the last time I attempted anything high-intensity.
Then I moved to New York City in 2018, reformer Pilates studios were everywhere. I started taking classes at a studio in the East Village, and it changed everything. I'd walk out feeling totally worked but somehow relaxed? I finally found something that didn't send my anxiety through the roof. It may sound woo-woo, but there is actual science behind why this is the case. I ended up taking my mat and reformer Pilates certification at East River Pilates while I working full time, and started teaching private lessons out of my apartment in Brooklyn.
At this point I had tried reformer classes in Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Calgary, Chicago, DC (the list goes on). Some studios were welcoming, diverse, and felt like a community. Other studios felt stuck up, unfriendly, and just not the vibe. I took all these experiences and made a note for my future studio.
Then when I moved back to Calgary last year, I decided it was time to leave the corporate world behind and start my own business. That’s when Wild West Pilates was born.
I want to be crystal clear about something: Wild West Pilates is for EVERYONE. Not just for people who already look like fitness models or show up in matching workout sets. We welcome all bodies, all fitness levels, all backgrounds. Whether you're a complete beginner or experienced, whether you're recovering from injury or looking to complement other activities there's a place for you here. Your worth isn't measured by how you look in leggings or what brand you wear. It's measured by your willingness to show up for yourself, exactly as you are.
Thank you for helping me make my dream come true and being a part of my community.
Love Natasha
