Meet Our Founder
Natasha here! The woman behind Wild West Pilates. If you’d told me two years ago that I’d ditch my corporate job to open a Pilates studio, I would’ve choked on my coffee and laughed you out of the room.
Back then, I was living in Toronto when that new SoulCycle opened on King St. As a spin enthusiast, I was all in. “Let’s do this!” I thought. By my third class? Total disaster. Full-blown panic attack. I had to awkwardly sneak out mid-class with everyone watching. That was the last time I attempted anything high-intensity. My nervous system said absolutely not.
Fast forward to 2018, when I moved to New York City. Reformer Pilates studios were everywhere, so I gave it a shot. I started taking classes at a studio in the East Village, and it changed everything. I’d walk out feeling totally worked yet somehow relaxed. I finally found something that didn’t send my anxiety through the roof. It may sound woo-woo, but there’s real science behind why that happens.
I eventually earned my mat and reformer Pilates certifications at East River Pilates while working full-time and teaching private sessions out of my Brooklyn apartment. And along the way, I tried studios in Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Calgary, Chicago, DC… the list goes on. Some were welcoming, diverse, and grounded in community. Others felt stuck-up, unfriendly, and just… not the vibe. I kept mental notes of everything I loved and everything I never wanted to recreate.
When I moved back to Calgary last year, I realized it was time. Time to leave the corporate world behind and build something of my own. That’s when Wild West Pilates was born.
And I want to be crystal clear about something: Wild West Pilates is for EVERYONE. Not just people who already look like fitness models or show up in matching workout sets. We welcome all bodies, all fitness levels, all backgrounds. Whether you’re a complete beginner or experienced, recovering from injury or looking to complement other activities, there’s a place for you here.
Your worth isn’t measured by how you look in leggings or what brand you wear. It’s measured by your willingness to show up for yourself, exactly as you are.
Thanks for joining me for the ride, for helping turn this dream into something real, and for being part of this beautiful community.
Love,
Natasha
PS: We have a great intro offer on right now. It’s 2 weeks of unlimited classes for $69. Then check out our schedule to find a time that works for you.
